Documented: Valkee’s leaders lying in public. A selection of present cases.

  1. Pekka Somerto, CEO, dishonestly accuses earlightswindle.com on Valkee’s marketing blog

(April 1st 2014) “… contrary to allegations made by earlightswindle.com, none of the researchers – other than the two founders Juuso Nissilä and Antti Aunio – have ever served on Valkee Board of Directors or in Management or staff of the company.”

Somerto is lying. At least, their “advisor” and principal investigator Timo Takala was on Valkee’s board when key research was done. The finnish trade register tells that clearly.

Valkee deleted related user questions repeatedly from their Facebook page. Later, Somerto’s text changed without notice:

(May 1st 2014) “… contrary to allegations made by earlightswindle.com, none of the researchers – other than the two founders Juuso Nissilä and Antti Aunio – serve on Valkee Board of Directors or in Management or staff of the company.”

Ironically, the modification is easy to identify: This website never claimed that a researcher is on the board at the moment. Valkee’s message became fully idiotic instead, because Antti Aunio is not even on the board, he left Valkee. - Somerto/Valkee did not inform their readers about the false accusation.

  2. Pekka Somerto, “correcting” an unwanted journal article

“Kontrollikoe tehtiin samaan aikaan kuin varsinainen koe [...] Tämä käy ilmi artikkelista, johon toimittaja ei ole ilmeisesti itse tutustunut, vaikka referoi sitä.”

”The control was done at the same time as the active experiment […] That’s clearly told in the article, which the journalist has obviously not read personally, despite citing it.”

Somerto is lying, and he insults a journalist who works carefully. The Valkee article in question tells in fact:

”All light stimulation imaging sessions took place in December and in February when it is remarkably dark in Oulu, [...]; sham control sessions were imaged during February and May”.

  3. Timo Ahopelto, Chairman/Speaker of the board, attacking the author of this website

“I have been involved closely with Valkee since Juuso and Antti started it, since 2009.”

Ahopelto is lying. Juuso (Nissilä) and Antti (Aunio) started Valkee in 2007. They even made the device 1 ½ years earlier, in winter 2005/2006. What may look like an oops! is not accidental - Ahopelto often "forgets" facts to sell his tales.

  4. Timo Ahopelto, attacking the media and critics

"Valkee is only speaking of winter blues, and you can check this from the company website."

Ahopelto's lie is disturbingly obvious. Valkee is selling the device for numerous other purposes and clearly markets the product for those on their website Valkee.com. The strange statement was also spread from Valkee’s @humancharger twitter account.

  5. Juuso Nissilä, CSO, defending Valkee's claims after the bust

“we have several such big trials in publication, or undergoing statistical tests; Valkee has more big completed [positive] studies.”

Nissilä was lying. No other earlight trial as big as the negative placebo study with its 89 participants has appeared to date. There was none ongoing then. There were no completed trials in publication, which could have had positive results for the Valkee earlight.

Valkee-related persons did one study with 90 participants, half of them healthy people. It was neither about treatment nor placebo-controlled.

  6. More than 120 accounts of false information given by Valkee's protagonists are compiled in the investigation files to date.
Dozens are already documented on this site, for example under /research. There still is no false information found on earlightswindle.com.
